Say NO to data centers in ATX!

The City of Austin is voting on data centers this Thursday 8/27. They are voting on a council resolution which directs the City Manager’s office to come up with regulation for data centers. Note: The Thursday 8/27 vote is for a non-binding resolution which is an important first step towards regulation, but NOT ENOUGH YET!

We’re contacting the City with a specific message:

Austin wants a data center moratorium — until data center regulation is law!

Hi, my name is [NAME], a resident of District [#]. I’m an Austin resident and voter. I’m calling to ask [Council Member / the Mayor] to pass a data center moratorium until we have real, legally-binding regulation.

I do not want data centers popping up around Austin — damaging our environment, impacting our health, and putting pressure on our strained energy grid. I look forward to your office supporting a full moratorium until we have regulation passed into law. A resolution is great, but it’s just the first step.

Can I count on your office to vote yes this Thursday on the resolution, and take it a step further with a moratorium?
